Test for MAP

Hi, Jini.

On the IBD Remission Diet forum, you mentioned that:

There is a blood test that tests for the DNA of the organism (MAP) and you can get it done from:

www.immuno-sci-lab.com

Do you happen to know the name of the test? I would like to get it done, but when I called the lab (and admittedly, I never did get past the operator), they didn't know what the test was or even if they still offer it.

I want to know the name of the test because it will be a whole lot simpler to get my doctor to sign an order for it if HE doesn't have to take the trouble to call and find out....

I know, probably time for another doctor, besides! Working on that.

Thanks so much.

MAP testing

Postby Jini Admin on Mon Nov 20, 2006 11:44 pm

Yikes! You're right. I called them and they are no longer doing it.

I've emailed the director of the lab and asked for a referral to another reputable lab who's doing it, so will let you know when I hear back from him....

Heard back from the director of Immunosciences: Currently, due to new regulations there is no MAP testing (of DNA / RNA) allowed by private labs in the USA.

If you're really keen on it, you may be able to source somewhere in Europe, or perhaps Canada that does it and overnight your blood samples there. Germany is very advanced for alternative medicine, so they might do it.

take care,
Jini

There is only one way to get a MAP test, but it requires being under the care of a physician at Texas Tech University who works with Dr. Naser, the microbiologist who is the leading expert on MAP testing. I spoke with this physician, whose name I don't want to post online because I'm not sure if he'd appreciate a flood of calls/emails. If you choose to work with him, you'd have to fly to El Paso, do a colonoscopy so he can confirm the diagnosis and have "pre-treatment" pictures of your gut, and have blood drawn for the MAP testing that will be performed by Dr. Naser in Florida. If you are positive, he would then treat you using his version of the RMAT protocol, which is a cocktail of three antibiotics for a minimum of 6 months.

I don't want to go the antibiotic route, so I chose not to work with him. If you are interested and sufficiently motivated, PM me and I'll give you his info (which I found by researching and calling around).
