Zinc

Postby butterfly7483 on Thu May 17, 2007 11:02 pm

I am extremely low on zinc, does the AP have enough zinc for someone who is very low or should I be taking an additional zinc supplement and if so do you have any recommendations?

Vitamins & minerals added to AP shakes

Hi, Cristina.

If you're really low on zinc, I would add to what is already in the shakes.

When you receive the IBD Remission Diet book, you'll find a complete list of recommended supplements. In the meantime, here's a list of what I add when I have an AbsorbPlus shake (I still usually have one for breakfast because it's great nutrition and also fast and easy).

Nature's Way Prenatal Multi.......1 capsule (contains about 33% of the RDA for zinc)

Nature's Way Calcium Complex........1 capsule (contains 11% of the RDA for zinc)

Source Naturals CoEnzyme A10.........1 capsule

NutriCology Quercetin Bioflavanoids............1 capsule

Source Naturals Ester-C crystals...........1/4 teaspoon

Udo's Choice Oil Blend.............1 tablespoon

These are all available from Jini's online shop, www.holistichealthshoppe.com, and even if you don't want to purchase them online, you can read why Jini recommends what she does, which is nice.

I take two more capsules each of the Prenatal Multi and the Calcium Complex throughout the day. Intuitively, I like to spread them out among my meals, rather than taking them all at once.

All the best,
Nicole
