IBS Versus Ulcer

For the past couple of years, I have been dealing with significant pain in the upper right quadrant of my abdomen (basically under the right rib cage) that is coupled with more frequent bowel movements and gas. In the middle of all these periodic episodes, I had my gallbladder removed which at first seemed to help but then the pain came back. Recently I started a macrobiotic diet which includes lots of vegetables. For the first week things were okay but then a major flare up happened which sent me back to the doctor with tremendous pain on the right side radiating to my back. This is always were the pain resides and I have been chasing this problem for many, many years with all my tests coming back negative. The only input I got was a possible spasm in my smooth muscle tissue which they treated with High Blood Pressue medicine which damn near killed me as I have low blood pressure. Muscle relaxants seem to help but I use them only when things are bad. The pain typically gets worse in the fall/winter when I am very busy at work and the holidays with three kids throws me into a high stress mode. They will be running all sorts of tests again, but my doctor mentioned IBS which I had thought of as well, which is why I bought Jini's books. But then the flare up would go away and I would think "okay I am fine". Does this sound familiar to anyone? Do you have a spasming pain on your right side that stays constant? Does drinking wine, eating fat, and gassy vegetables make the pain worse? Help!

Pain & Spasming

I would definitely give EFT and craniosacral therapy a try for what you're describing. Make sure the craniosacral practitioner is also certified in visceral manipulation and/or myofascial release (see Ch.6 of LTYG for more details.

all the best,

Hi there,
I have been struggling with right quad pain since I was diagnosed with Crohn's 3 years ago. It did not seem to go away with any Crohn's treatment, medical or naturopathic.
It turns out there is a deep muscle there in the abdomen called the psoas muscle which can be very tight and cause this kind of pain. I have been having psoas releases done and found much relief. The only confusing part is that when I do have a Crohn's flare it can cause pain in the same area and it is hard to tell the difference.
I have also been told that you can have a Psoas Abcess caused by a Crohn's type fistula going into the muscle. This is identified through and abdominal CT scan.

Hope this is helpful. You can get a release from wholistic chiropractors and message therapists.

Take care,
Pat
Wishing everyone well,
Pat
