I have an extremely powerful VitaMix Blender that I use to make raw fruit and vegetable smoothies and soups. The research has shown that it fully breaks down the cellulose wall of the raw fruit and vegetable cell, making it extremely digestible. [I think it would smoothly blenderize an oak tree if given a chance!!]. I still have active problems with diarrhea and colonic bleeding as part of ulcerative colitis. Jini recommends that raw vegetables and fruits be eliminated from the diet in this active colitis situation. Yet, I don't notice any differences in my symptoms when I eliminate them compared with when I process these foods with the VitaMix blender. What has been your experience in this situation and would the use of this type of powerful blender alter the basic recomendations?
If you only have UC, with no upper GI or stomach problems, then that would make sense why juicing the raw veggies is okay for you - by the time they hit your colon, they are pretty much digested and absorbed. And, as you point out, your juicer is doing part of the digestion for you.
Hey, my opinion is: if you can tolerate it, go for it! There's nothing better for your body than the live enzymes, highly bio-available vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, etc. found in raw foods.
Also, remember, if your UC is largely infectious in origin - you'll see a huge symptom reduction from doing Jini's Wild Oregano Oil Protocol - see ARTICLES on this site.
I had UC for almost 20 years. I was on about a 50-60% raw fruits and vegetable diet for 4 years and it helped me a lot but then last year something that I ate that was not in the 50-60% caused me some big problems. I got over that the natural way (tried absorb plus but no reason to pay a lot of money and get animal products and chemicals). My problems cleared and now I eat about 99% raw fruits and vegetables and I have no problems at all. This is just my opinion but I feel that UC and probably Crohn's are not really diseases at all but are symptoms of a bad SAD (standard american diet). I know several other people who are cured as well. Makes no sense to me to eat the silly things people eat and get sick just because you are addicted to them...break the addiction to cooked foods and live a normal life. Your body will thank you for it!
