Probiotics - your advice is greatly appreciated

I have had Ulcerative Colitis for the past 6 years and have been on the SCD for the past year. I have had reasonable success with SCD but had heard about LTYG from a fellow SCD'er and wanted to try it out.

I started doing Jini's Oregano Oil Protocol a couple of weeks back and started with the Oil which I tolerated well. A couple of days later I started the probiotics. I started with the acidophilus 1tsp and had a reaction the next day. I decided (having experienced 'die-offs' before) that this could be an initial reaction and things would calm down so I carried on for 3-4 more days. By this time the die off was really bad. I was suffering from D and experience stabbing pains just before a bm.

I stopped the acidophilus and the oregano oil for around a week. I was not improving. I was getting worried at this point (as I assumed the oil would have wiped out all my gut bacteria good and bad and I was not putting any back in so I decided to start on the bifidus. I started really slowly (a quarter of a quarter of a teaspoon) and I seemed to tolerate this and things have since slowly improved. I have not however had a solid bm since my initial problems.

What I want to know is does anyone know what I have actually done to cause these problems for myself and has anyone experienced this or could give me any advice on how to get back to where I was before (solid bms 2-3 times a day, no pain/blood, no major urgency).

Sorry about the essay but i'd really appreciate any advice you could give me!

Thanks,

Mike

I believe Jini does recommend starting with the powdered non-dairy bifido factor first, as it's thought to be the gentlest and really works in the colon.

Make sure the acidophilous you have isn't the dairy formula.
