EFT How effective?

Well, I'm going to buy the DVD's and give it a try but just wonder how effective this has been for anyone here who's used it WITHOUT a practitioner. I can't afford any kind of practitioner's rates and we don't have any here in good old Battle Ground anyway.

As another source of emotional wisdom that has been helpful for me, check out Emotional Genius by Karla McClaren, its an 8 CD set; its a bit new agey for some people but very firmly grounded in reality. Highly recommended...

EFT w/out practitioner

Postby Nicole on Wed Jan 24, 2007 11:29 pm

Hi, Possum.

I used EFT very effectively for months.

You can read my experiences using it by using the following two links.

http://www.jinipatelthompson.com/bb2/viewtopic.php?t=70

Recently, I did make an appointment with a practitioner and that, too, was very helpful.

Great idea getting the DVDs! You'll be able to pick up a lot on how to effectively use EFT just by watching the masters at work. Notice how they are specific in their phraseology, switch between physical and emotional issues as needed, address "blocks" in people's intentions and test their work between rounds. Keep in mind that there may be several aspects to a single problem, all of which may require resolution.

Thanks, also, for sharing your experience with Emotional Genius. It's great to keep learning about new things. In my recent EFT appointment, I was also introduced to a tool called TAT; it's always good to learn new tools that you can use.

I'll read your links later, just checking in to see if anyone replied. Yes, even in the Emotional Genius she talks about "layers" of emotional issues, you might be working with stored traumas or angers and once you process them you find they were covering up something else. I've been working on finding that area in my colon thats real tender and asking what is stored there? I'm finding that there are multiple issues residing there, using the intuitive emotional processing in Genius, stuff with my Dad pretty much being an emotional tyrant when I was a kid, issues dealing with armoring myself emotionally against others attacking me for being different through my lifetime, issues dealing with constant high stress deadlines in the advertising business, as a graphic designer, alot of stuff thats in there. I've been conscious that I tense my stomach muscles in social situations, being a shy person and somewhat low self esteem, and I am sure that this tension goes straight into the colon/brain down there. So there's alot to bring out into the light, Genius has helped me put a finger on all this, I think EFT is worth a try, a life of anxiety is no fun and my poor coping mechanisms are what caused a health melt-down, so anyone with colon problems needs to take a good look in the mirror and be honest with yourself. The second chakra is where the emotional brain is and it sits right there in your gut :-)

Good work! Just the fact that you know all this about yourself and are dealing with it layer by layer shows that you're on the right track.

It's so important to deal with those stored issues because otherwise they tend to slow and/or block healing.

results so far....

Well I got the EFT course on DVD, I can see now why it would be not a good idea to try this without the DVDs and just the manual alone.

This stuff definitely DOES help, is NOT magic, and is something I'd recommend for everyone. AFter being sick for 3 months I got pretty phobic about going out in public, especially since my colon was pretty raw inside and any gas or constipation made me nauseous. As I felt better, I was very nervous about going to the grocery store and dealing with the anxiety of being in public and not sure what would happen. I did manage to go with wife one time and felt pretty stable, but went alone next time and had a panic reaction as I was checking out. Racing heartbeat and dizziness, not fun. So that made me anxious about ever going back again. So the EFT course arrived and just practicing the tapping sequence did something to me without even focusing on any issues, the next day I went to the grocery store and almost no anxiety at all, and did tapping before I went. Since then I am over that anxiety completely.

But I've been trying it on insomnia and a problem with tension in my jaw and its not been as effective there. Tension in my jaw is getting better the more I work with it, insomnia problem I am having a hard time knocking that one down, maybe because I am still using pills frequently. There are probably aspects I've not figured out so it will take time. So, no EFT is not magic and some things you will have to work at to get rid of.

But overall I am really happy with this technique, I'm not done with the course, just about to start part II and am keeping at it. The examples in the course are real people with amazing results, this is well worth the investment, especially with us "emotional" and our sensitive guts :-)
