frequency of stools on shakes

Postby dfisher on Sun Jan 14, 2007 4:58 pm

I am on the elemental diet at 5 shakes a day and expected to have the frequency of my stools reduced. I continue to have tremendous frequency, which was a primary symptom of UC before going elemental. Am a getting the absorption I need? I feel well otherwise. I had urgency as well and this has been reduced since adding bifido factor. Other posts reference this somewhat and left me feeling as though I shouldn't have diarrhea while on the diet, but small amounts of stool. This is not my experience. Most times I have gas and pass a small amount of stool, but there are other times it is very liquidy and a fairly large amount. It feels like the shake is mearly passing through.

My own experience on the IBD Remission Diet

Postby Nicole on Sun Jan 14, 2007 6:34 pm

It wasn't until about the fifth week in that I noticed much improvement in my stools, as far as the frequency.

The earliest sign of improvement I noticed was an increase in energy....that was about two weeks in.

Your experience might be much like someone else's or it could be quite different. But at least this gives you a little something to go by.
