"Healthy Trinty" and Rx & Herbs

Postby ndenovan on Sun Jan 07, 2007 4:34 pm

I am about to start taking "Healthy Trinity," - on an empty stomach (15 min before meal or 2 hours after). I notice that the bottle instructions say to take it 2 hours away from prescription drugs, garlic and all herbs.

Jini doesn't mention this as beijng an important factor in healing the gut. Should I pay attention to these bottle directions?

Thanks again for being so supportative.

Probiotics & herbs

Postby Nicole on Sun Jan 07, 2007 7:20 pm

Hi, Nancy.

Jini actually covered this in one of her recent "Straight from the Gut" newsletters. If anyone has a copy of it, please post the information on here, but I can tell you the gist of it from memory.

Basically, yes, the probiotics need to be taken in isolation. However, the herb part is relative. For instance, you definitely need to take the probiotics at least 2 hours away from taking Wild Oregano Oil, because if not, the active compounds in the Oregano Oil will kill the probiotic bacteria. However, the same is not true for the herbs in MucosaHeal or the aloe vera juice. Using the aloe vera juice as an example, you can take the probiotics first (on an empty stomach), wait 30 minutes for them to be absorbed and then take the aloe vera juice.

Hope this helps.
