Has anyone had a CT scan of their abdomen?

Postby karoe on Fri Feb 29, 2008 8:34 pm

.....I'd be interested in whether anything was found.

I had one today to look at my liver, specifically, because a recent sonogram showed a shadow on it. I went for the sonogram because for two years in a row I have had mildly elevated bilirubin. I was kind of mad about having to go thru this, but after I saw what the test involved, I thought, hey, not a bad thing to look at how all this stuff is working, especially the liver-gallbladder operation and all those little ducts in there. There are short films on YouTube of all sorts of CT scans. I liked watching those. I think that the whole thing really is valuable. Anybody else want to comment? Did anyone else's test actuallyl find anything?

Thanks. I hope you will all be here when I get the result. So wierd to think "gee, I hope it's nothing, but again if they find something maybe it can be fixed." We've all been there, I guess.

Hi, karoe.

I've never had one done, but do let us know how everything turns out. (Hopefully, all good! I know, there is always a little bit of a scare factor in any test . . .)

Take care,
Nicole

Results of CT scan were normal

That's a relief. I didn't get sick from the barium or the contrast, either. But the co-pay nearly gave me a heart attack!!

LOL. Yes, I hear you! It's amazing what you have to pay sometimes, even if you have health coverage.

Take care,

Thanks for your post, DarkAngel....you reminded me of the level of detail they can see with that test. On me, there was nothing to report, but they were looking for liver/gallbladder. I guess they can always go back and read it again. Just thinking about asking the doctor for that makes me tired...it's so hard to get them to do things for you...you know how it is.

I had a CT scan of my abdomen done after having a colonoscopy which only showed I have an extra curvey colon for my age. The CT scan showed nothing abnormal. I've been branded with the diagnosis of Ideopathic IBS with Constipation.
