Probiotics seminar

Postby echernosky on Mon Jan 21, 2008 1:19 am

Yesterday I listened to the Probiotics seminar that Jini had with Natasha Trenev. I was blown away. It is about an hour and a half long and FULL of great informatin about probiotics.

I feel like when I read Natasha's book, I reached the first level of probiotics understanding. When I read LYTG, I feel like I reached the next level. I feel like listening to the teleseminar has brought me to the next level.

I changed my probiotic supplementation right away after listening. After listening to the discussion on infantis, I KNEW that it was I needed.

Way too much good information to get in one listening - probiotic layering, supernatent, infantis, dosages, HSOs... etc.

If you have IBD or IBS, you should really listen to this. Really good stuff.

Jini, thank you so much for doing this.

One Bazillion bacteria

Postby echernosky on Sun Apr 20, 2008 4:20 pm

I listented to this wonderful teleseminar again today. Lots and lots of good stuff.

During the discussion, Ms. Trenev states that she has recommended to UC sufferers to take the following dosage 3x per day: 7 Health Trinity and 1 tsp each of each of 3 powders.

If my math is correct, this equates to 666 billion bacteria per day.

Has anybody experimented with megadoses of the Natren probiotics? (Yes I know that VSL#3 has even more)

Does anybody take more than one Healthy Trinity capsule at a time?

Hi Ed,

Yes, I know, that's a mega dose! And no, I have not tried anywhere near that much.

I'm wondering if Natasha recommends such a high dosage because she's looking for the probiotics to wipe out the underlying gut infection (that is at the root of most, if not all cases of colitis). In that case, I can see why such a high dose would be needed and effective.

However, if you're using Jini's Wild Oregano Oil Protocol - which is combined with probiotics and then followed with probiotics - perhaps you wouldn't need such a high dose.

At any rate, my advice would be to ramp up to that dosage gradually - otherwise you may have a killer Herxheimer Reaction (die-off effect)!

Well, let us know if you try it. Even 3 Healthy Trinity per day (with the powders) would be a good high dosage.

take care,
Jini

Probiotics vs. prednisone

Postby echernosky on Mon Apr 21, 2008 7:58 pm

Jini,

Thank you so much for the wonderful response.

Right now I have built up to 5 Healthy Trinity per day. I haven't been "layering" because I forgot all about it until I listened to the teleseminar again. I plan on starting to layer again tomorrow. Besides, I especially like the MegaDophilus powder for my mouth and stomach.

I have managed to reduce my Prednisone to 10mg. When I lowered from 12.5mg to 10mg, I was amazed at how hard it was on my body. I actually had to slow down the 5 Healthy Trinity because they became too powerful for me. I believe this is because my pH lowered a little and let the little buggers flourish a little bit more.... causing some pretty significant die-off.

At the end of the month, I plan on reducing down to 7.5. I expect the die-off to be significant again.

Has anyone else seen a significant change in die off when making a small decrease in prednisone?

Hi, Ed.

Don't forget, also, what Jini mentioned in the following post:

http://www.jinipatelthompson.com/bb2/vi ... php?t=1533

You've been on prednisone for a long time, so there's a lot of stuff that the meds have masked for years and as you wean, you're taking that mask off. You might want to try weaning even more slowly to see if that makes a difference.

I remember when I was following the SCD, some people there, once they'd used the diet to stabilize themselves to some extent, found that to wean from prednisone in particular, they had to do it in tiny increments...as small as 1mg/month.

If this resonates with you at all, that might be worth a try to minimize any reactions to weaning.

I'll also mention this thread to Jini to see if there's anything she'd like to add.

Take care,
Nicole

How would one afford to consume 21 caps of healthy trinity daily plus the powders?

I haven't listened to the seminar yet so i don't know how many days this would be over the course of. But WOW!

Hi Ed,

Probiotics are a cornerstone of healing, but they are not the only thing you need to be implementing (as I'm sure you're aware).

So, for you, to help you wean off the prednisone and avoid any symptom escalation, I would also take MucosaHeal. This could be difficult because MucosaHeal has to be taken on an empty stomach, but you can't take it with probiotics.

In fact, here's what might work well for you: Take your probiotics during the day, and then last thing at night, take 6 MucosaHeal along with 1/2 cup George's Aloe Vera juice. This will help to facilitate the mucosal lining healing that also needs to take place as you come off prednisone and prevent a flare.

Also, you need help re-starting your adrenal gland function - that is suppressed by prednisone. So take Adrenal Complex by Herb Pharm. Again, start slow, at only 1x/day and gradually increase to 3x/day.

These two things combined should help you to be able to wean quicker.

Let us know how it goes!

p.s. regarding the other posting about the cost of the probiotics - yes, it would sure add up. But you have to ask yourself: How much is your colon worth? $3,000.... $10,000? I spent over $54,000 working out all the protocols in Listen To Your Gut and I have to say, it was worth every penny! You can't put a price on freedom. And to have what I have now, I would pay millions of dollars! But that's because for me, being ill is like being imprisoned - I really, really hate it. And would do and pay anything to avoid it - well, anything moral, that is.

take care,
Jini
