So I finished the IBD remmission diet which was a wonderful experience. But right now, I am off and on feeling horrible. I have begun the oregano oil protocol and am trying to eat following the control diarehea diet, even though my main problem is GASSY CONSTIPATION. My gut is distended and feels like rocks are in it. I am so broke from buying all of those probiotics, but I have been faithful in taking them daily. I am so tempted to just take the morphine that I have for emergencies!! Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can feel good again? I feel like I have taking 10 steps forward, and that evey day like this is another step back . . .
First off, kudos to you for completing the IBD Remission Diet!!! It was so hard for me to stay on even for 12 days- you are a really strong person. I'm so sorry to hear that you are feeling worse after feeling better- I hate that feeling. It's such a rollercoaster thing. You think you're finally getting better and then you just slowly slide back and get discouraged again.
I'm thinking you may want to slow down on the WOO, too if that's the new thing you have introduced. But if you feel that is not the trouble then keep taking it.
Have you tried the "gas and bloating" diet at all? Maybe that would be worth a try instead of the diarrhea diet???
It's funny because since I've stabilized and have no diarrhea really, I'm still getting a lot of bloating and gas too and I've honestly never been a really gassy person. I have to wonder if it has something to do with the probiotics???
Don't know, but hang in there and try to focus on the journey and the process. I know that's easier said than done, but you have lots of support here anytime you need to talk. Best wishes...
One is to use colonic massage whenever you're having pain from gas or constipation. It really helps to move everything along much faster so you don't spend hours in discomfort. I found that the most comfortable way to do it was lying on my back, with my knees elevated.
A classic die-off symptom is gas, so if that is your main problem, even though it feels bad when it's happening, it's worth keeping on with the wild oregano oil. However, you might cut your dosage down and plan on taking it for a longer time.
See link below if you'd like to read a post with some similarities to your experience:
Also, if you didn't introduce foods one at a time every few days following the IBD Remission Diet, see the following link for suggestions you can use to help figure out any specific foods that may be irritating. (See Jini's post from 1/8/2008.)
Hope that helps you! If not, don't hesitate to write back with questions or concerns.
All the best,
Nicole

so my acupuncturist felt that my liver is really stressed and injured, so I have stopped the oregano oil. But the gas persists. The colonic massage doesn't seem to help much either. I have been sick like this for over a week. I am so frustrated. I just don't know what to do
So every day it seems I have a few more hours feeling good. But today was the worst!!! I went to my first craniosacral therapy session, and I was feeling so great, no pain, no gas. So I tried eating some rice noodles, no forbidden seasonings. All was fine, until about 1 am when I threw up everything and began hurting again. What should I do? I am losing weight again, and I know its just a matter of time before I start getting pressured to go back on prednisone. I don't know what to do. Should I go back to the elemental diet? I did the whole 6 weeks! Please, Nicole or somebody help me.
It sounds to me like you could be experiencing a combination of the Herxheimer Reaction (die-off effect of pathogens caused by wild oregano and probiotics) and possible food intolerances and difficulty adjusting back to regular foods.
So, in my opinion, even though the Herxheimer is really unpleasant and uncomfortable, it's something you have to plow through if you're ever going to achieve long-term health.
Having said that, there are some things you can do to minimize the discomfort/adjustment:
Go back on the shakes for 2-3 days to clear your gut and settle things down again, but stay on the Wild Oregano Oil Protocol. From there you have 2 options:
1. If that feels like all you can handle, then stay on The IBD Remission Diet for a total of 2 weeks while going full steam ahead on the Wild Oregano Oil Protocol. After 2 weeks, follow #2 below.
2. Or, after 2-3 days, VERY slowly start to introduce foods, one per day, and test for reactions. Continue on this way, using Absorb Plus shakes to keep you at a good calorie/nutrient intake for as long as you need to. Again, stay on the Wild Oregano Oil Protocol - either at full dose, or gradually working up to it until you no longer have any symptoms.
3. Once you no longer have any symptoms, come off the Wild Oregano and do just high dose probiotics for 6 months - 1 year.
You also really need to listen to the Probiotics 1 Teleseminar (with Natren founder, Natasha Trenev) as this will really give you a good handle on what's going on. You can read what someone else had to say about the seminar here:
http://www.jinipatelthompson.com/bb2/vi ... php?t=1531
4. The other thing you MUST get going on, is EFT to handle the pain, disappointment, frustration and any emotional events in your life that are producing biochemical reactions in your gut that cause cramping and constipation: www.emofree.com There are also LOTS of posts on this forum about EFT, so do a search. Oh yes, and you can also get a free 30 minute consult with EFT therapist Annabel Fisher: www.efthealingcentre.com
I wouldn't worry about your liver testing weak, that too is normal for someone detoxing and killing off lots of pathogens. Acupuncture is great for supporting your liver during this time. I wouldn't do an herbal liver support yet though, as they often involve a detox element as well.
all the best,
Jini
