Olive leaf extract and Cramps

Postby crampygut on Wed Dec 26, 2007 12:27 am

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has experienced the folowing symptoms while usig olive leaf extract? I usually have four to five very loose bowel motions per day, while taking 5ml twice a day of Olive Leaf Extract I only have one to two bowel motions a day but It is extremely loose explosive and my gut is extremely crampy (more than usual) during the day. This has been happening for the past four days that I have been on this product. Is this a common occurance with the initial use on this product?

Olive leaf extract and cramps

Postby crampygut on Thu Dec 27, 2007 10:45 am

Thanx Nicole. After reading the forum post you directed me to I have decided to continue using the Olive Leaf extract. I have Just a few questions please Nicole.

1. Has Olive leaf Extract ever set off a flair up and contributed in dmaging the bowels?

2. Is there a reference to the dose of OLE I should be taking to reach the desired effect in LTYG (if so what page)

3. Can a maintanance dose be take for a year or more with out a problem?

P.S I am currently on only two prescription drugs and one multivitamin.

Kind Thanks
Michael

Hi, Michael.

I haven't heard of it causing a flare or damaging the bowels. However, if high-dose probiotics weren't included on the regimen, I can certainly see how it could. No matter what antimicrobial you take - prescription or natural - it is crucial to follow it with at least three months of high-dosage probiotics or the door is left wide open for re-infection or a new infection of a different sort.

There is some information on pages 141-142 of LTYG regarding dosage. If you are interested in using it, it might also be worth purchasing the book that Jini quotes from regarding it.

I don't really know the answer to your third question and it wouldn't be right to pretend to. My gut answer, though, is that there wouldn't really be a need to take a maintenance dose long-term like that and if you did, you could create more problems than you solve. You could adapt Jini's Wild Oregano Protocol (pages 152-153 of LTYG) to olive leaf extract, which would have you cycling between various dosages of olive leaf extract vs. probiotics according to your symptoms, however.

All the best,
Nicole
