Professor Hermon-Taylor, a leading proponent of the theory that Crohn's Disease is caused by MAP, has successfully tested a vaccine that proved highly successful in both treatment and prevention of CD in mice.

Unconformed reports say the new vaccine was made using two safe viruses - a cold virus and one used in smallpox vaccine which stimuates the white blood cell to kill the bacteria. If this is true, it is very similar to the theory behind the helminth therapy (TSO) that is gaining support and recognition in the medical community.

He is now conducting a fundraising drive to take the vaccine to clinical trials.

I go through phases with research. Sometimes six months will pass and I won't do any at all; other times (now, for example), I'm like a mad scientist. This recent phase was inspired by my desire to learn as much as I could about elemental diets, their use in treating Crohn's Disease, how they compare to polymeric diets (liquid diets with intact proteins and complex carbohydrates), and whether I could create a hypoallergenic elemental formula that might work for me (I don't seem to tolerate whey or maltodextrin well). Of course in pursuing this line of inquiry I've been exposed to all kinds of tangental, but related areas of interest. I share them when I think they'll be of interest to others.

To answer your question, I'm not a researcher or investigator but I do have an academic and medical background.
