IBD diet and Oregano Oil

Postby cjm0318 on Mon Jun 11, 2007 1:35 pm

Hello Again,
Kyle, my 14 yr old son, was on the IBD Remission diet for 8 weeks last summer, and he is going for another 8 weeks this summer(already 2 weeks into the diet). Mainly for promoting his growth; it seems he didn't gain any further weight after the completion of his first time on the IBD diet(has gained a bit of height though).
Is there any need for him to be on the Oil of Oregano while on the IBD remission diet? He did have yeast prior to the diet. My understanding is the diet itself starves the bacteria, and the bacteria die. Also, I am having Kyle continue the probiotics at night...is this a waste of the probiotics or beneficial???
We sure appreciate all the help you are giving us.
Thanks
Jeannie and Kyle :D

Hi Jeannie,

Yes, he should do the Wild Oregano Oil Protocol and take the probiotics last thing before bed. This will maximize his chances for success since newer research suggests that maltodextrin may be a food source for bacteria.

Since he's a growing child, he's going to need even more calories in order to gain weight. I read just today that a teenager needs 3000 calories/day base. Then you have to consume extra if you want to gain weight. So make sure he's ingesting enough shakes to make up his caloric needs. If he ingests 4000 calories/day, then he should gain 2 pounds per week.

all the best,
Jini
