I'm new to the forum, although I did purchase Jini's book back in 2006 and made a poor attempt at implementation.
Long story short,
Diagnosed Ulcerative Proctitis Dec 2004, aged 30. First symptoms were Sep 2004 whilst in Chicago for work.
Diagnosed Anterior Uveitis (Left Eye) April 2005
Diagnosed Anterior Uveitis (Right Eye) May 2006
I have since battled many proctitis flare ups, chronic uveitis, raised IOP, secondary glaucoma, cataract (bloody GI put on 50mg of pred), IBS, sacroilitiis, costocontritis and reactive depression. Prior to being sick I was never ill, always fit and active. Although looking back, the last couple of years prior to my first flare, I had become overworked, tired and a rundown father of 3.
I followed the SCDiet for a good 12-14 months (thanks to all the help form my wife) before trying many other meds, various probiotics natural remedies and yoga. In the end I found the SCDiet too stressful. At the time I was not coping with my illness (acceptance), the demands of the SCDiet and my job, I lost more weight. I had dropped from 83kg - 69kg since diagnoses. I have used dipentum regularly off & on since 2006. This is mainly because I'm allergic to sulphur based drugs. I'm currently on no meds for the bowel, although I use many eye drops for Uveitis & glaucoma. I'm also using Ocuflux has I just had trabeculectomy performed on my left eye.
I'm currently undertaking the Elemental Diet along with the wild oregano protocol. I plan on doing so the Elemental Diet for a week. I was hoping that someone could kindly advise if it is okay to use local probitics as our aussie dollar is rather weak at the moment. I have used Metagenics Probex, VSL 1 and Progurt. I can source all of these down under.
I can manage most foods, fruit causes burning and cramps just under my right rib cage. I one of the rare IBD sufferers who suffer form constipation, instead of diarrhea.
Prior to starting the Elemental Diet last Thursday, I was on dipentum 2 + 2, MTX for the past month, L-Glutamine (1,000) 1 + 1.
I down at the moment and are experiencing chest pain (sternum).
Thanks in advance,
Brett
