Enzymes and Vegetable Juicing

Postby Meadowlark on Sun May 17, 2009 2:04 pm

I have an irritated colon, only one small segment. It is irritated primarily by raw foods, vegetables and fruits. I am concerned about not getting enough digestive enzymes which are abundant in raw foods but not in cooked. I am unable to take supplements. I have decided to try juicing vegetables, however this is what irritated my colon to begin with (I was juicing parsley, celery, carrots and beets, and it seems as though it is the parsley and celery that caused the problem). My plan is to try only carrots and to dilute. Please provide your thoughts on this approach and issues regarding enzymes and the importance to healing bowel irritation. Need to emphasize that his is not IBD, I do not experience any of the symptoms of that condition. Only irritation, like an allergic reaction to the colon tissue.

Hi I have Ulcerative Colitis. You say you have irritation from fruits and vegetables but you don't have any type of bowel disorder, thank goodness. Anyway I tried juicing and it upset my stomach too. I tried juicing for the same reason you did. Now you say you can't take supplements? I am sorry the only thing I can suggest are those. I will just tell you what I take just in case. I take a Digestive Enzyme it has helped me. I used to take Juice Plus supplements but my Naturalpath informed me that I was allergic to what was in them. My last comment is that when I went to a Naturalpath I found out that carrots were one of the worst things for me and of course that is what I was juicing with. So if this issue bothers you lot you might want to check with a local Natrualpathic doctor. I am sorry I wish I could give you better advice I can only go from my own experience, but hopefully someone else on here will provide you with more information.
