Heartburn, Small Intestine Inflammation

Postby Jini Admin on Sat Jul 19, 2008 5:43 pm

Dear Jini,

I have just only been diagnosed with Crohn's in the last three weeks. My girlfriend leant me your bbok as she has Ulcerative Colitis and i found it very interresting and have since received my own copy with supplements i fell i need to get well for my symtoms.

I general i think i am very lucky compared to alot of stories i have been reading about over the past couple of weeks as apart from the severe inflammation in my small intesine, my main symtoms are gas/bloating, terrible reflux and a few aches and pains. i have no bleeding, diarrhea, or any of thoughs nasty things.

As the small intestine was completely blocked with infection i agreed to start with a short cause of steriods. I am currently on a course of Prednisolone Steriods which i am starting to ween off and Mesalazine Anti-inflammatory which i will also begin to ween off over the next couple of weeks.

I have started with Aloe Vera Juice for the reflux and i have the DGL chewable tablets, however it says on the bottle not to take whilst on medication so i have not started them yet. I am also beginning to take VSL#3 probiotics as of this evening. I have also started on a morning and night cause of astragalus for 2 weeks.

My main question is whether i can start the NAG and MucosaHeal now (or over the next couple of weeks) or if i have to wait until i am completely off the drugs first? Your opinion on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance for your assistance and the information i have received from you re book, CD and emails has been both informative and helpful for myself and my husband (who is having trouble getting his head around is all and i don't seem neally as bad and i should with this disease.

Thanks again,

I'm glad to hear you're doing so well.

Yes, you can start the NAG and MucosaHeal now, they will help you to be able to wean off the drugs.

If you don't get good results from the VSL#3, then switch to the Natren probiotics in POWDER form (best if it's powder form for heartburn), 3x/day. Then once your heartburn is resolved, you can switch to the once a day Healthy Trinity capsule.

all the best,
Jini

Hi Everyone:

When does one take the drug? My father is on Prevacid and taking NAG,
George's Aloe Vera, Calcium and Mag tablets, with his protien shake or
with peppermint tea, before eating or 2 hrs after food.
He's also taking the Healthy Trinity trio (3 in 1) probiotics before bed.
When should he take the prevacid?

Thanks
Linda
