diarrhea on diet

Postby sumwun on Thu Apr 09, 2009 4:35 pm

Hello
Now 10 days into diet. I have good days and bad days. Some days I feel great, others I am very tired. Is this normal at this stage? Also some days, which also seem to correspond with the very tired days, I have diarrhea and urgency. Sometimes rather explosive diarrhea. Thought this was supposed to be better. I will try drinking more aloe vera and taking more probiotics.
I hesitate to do the WOO thing because I seem to be sensitive even to Mucosaheal.
I am taking only the mixed berry and vanilla and Udo's Oil, some Quercitin, pycnogenol and coq 10, think that is about it. also drink emergen c which i like.
my mouth is dry frequently. is this something others have noticed?

Hi, there.

To some extent, symptoms will come and symptoms will go and it's best not to get too "worked up" over each one. Rest assured that it's quite normal to have both good and bad days on the diet.

When you do feel tired, though, I hope that you are able to make the time to give yourself some extra rest and relaxation. It takes a lot of energy for the body to heal and if we use up that energy working, doing chores, whatever, it just prolongs the healing process.

A liquid stool is always harder to hold than a solid one and it's entirely normal - in fact, expected - for the stools to be liquid throughout the diet. A few people who are already prone to constipation tend toward mainly solid stools whilst following The IBD Remission Diet. Based on feedback from Jini and many of her consultation clients who tried the diet early on, probiotics do help to alleviate the "explosive" bowel movements, though.

The dry mouth is a bit of a mystery to me, though. I have to admit, I haven't heard of anyone else mentioning that.

Here is a thought, though. Are you drinking a full glass of water after each shake? I believe it's the maltodextrin that can be a bit drying.

Hope that helps!

All the best,
Nicole
