questions on the diet

Postby sumwun on Tue Apr 07, 2009 1:06 pm

Hi. Been on the diet for about 9 days. Some questions: I have about 1 BM a day, if you can call them that. They are so strange. Color is yellowish and very soft but not watery.
Would it be a good thing to take Psyllium while on the diet? If yes, what product is best? I thought it might help sweep out the old stuff and it is supposed to stimulate lymph flow and all that in the bowel.
If no, why not?
I have found that the chocolate flavor irritates my intestine so I cannot use that flavor. And I don't think Mucosaheal is my friend either. But other than that, I have had great relief from the GI problems I was experiencing before starting the diet so I think it was and is very helpful. I intend to stay on it for the full 6-7 weeks if I can. Growing very bored of the same old same old but it is a small price to pay for GI health.

Hi, there.

Psyllium is not an elemental item, so you'll no longer be getting complete bowel rest if you add it in. However, that could be a great supplement to use once you finish your time on the IBD Remission Diet.

I'm glad to hear that you're already finding some relief from using the Absorb Plus, though!

To give yourself at least some taste variety, it's great to mix up some clear, homemade broth (there are various recipes included in Jini's book, The IBD Remission Diet) and also, try having some "Yummi Bears" multivitamins. They're compatible with an elemental diet and will give you something to chew, as well as a different taste. Jini says you can have up to 10 of them daily. Another product to give you some variety is Emergen-C, which you can drink as a "snack" in between shakes.

Hope that helps!

All the best,
Nicole
