absoltely everything i eat gives me gas, except maybe once a week i will have a meal and not have gas afterwards. i'm keeping a food diary and can't find any patterns. i'm taking probiotics and wild oregano oil too, what else should i do? i think it's because i have to go poop a little, but not enough to actually go, if that makes sense.

i've been eating spelt bread each night recently because it helps me get everything out when i go to the bathroom in the morning, it has a lot of fiber. i had the gas problems before this, but if spelt is a grain and i shouldn't have it, what else can i eat at night to help me get everything out in the morning?

Hi, Lindsay.

The flip side of the probiotics causing gas is that it's a classic die-off symptom. In other words, as pathogenic micro-organisms are killed off by the probiotics, it can cause a lot of gas. So what feels like a bad thing is really good. That said, there's certainly nothing wrong with ramping up your dosage of probiotics at the rate that's comfortable for you; everyone's a little bit different about that. Some people would prefer to go through the die-off and get it over with quickly, others would rather deal with milder die-off symptoms for a longer time.

As a note, flax oil is temperature-sensitive and needs to be ingested cold.

Definitely try darkangel's advice about grain-free. When you feel ready to add grains back into your daily diet, try the preparation methods which you can find in a book called Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. This made a HUGE difference in the digestibility of grains for me.

Hope that helps!

hi, I don't know if you've got this under control yet, but it certainly sounds to me like you're constipated. if you only have little bits of stool coming out, then your are backed up and when that happens the bacteria keep feeding on whatever is stuck down there and you will get gas from this, as well as gas from the Oil of oregano.

the very best thing that has helped me with this right away is to do an enema...not just a one time flush mind you...but 3 or 4 bagfuls of lukewarm water. I have found that each flush releases more and more stool. you'll know you've emptied your colon when you can take a whole bagful in. I could feel it flush through my whole colon...this is quite a process. I do these flushes in the bathtub and have a bucket and paper towels to help cleanup. the other alternative is to find a place that does colon cleanses. it will be much cleaner and easier, just more expensive. then I would do Jini's probiotic retention enema. when I did this after my first real colon clease I had diarhea for a week...I believe because I had been constipated for so long that I was full of toxins that my body was happily getting rid of. If you haven't already gotten it, I highly recommend her book "listen to your colon"...its about getting rid of constipation for good.
