What is considered 'high dose' omega 3? I am currently taking 1500mg of Nordic Naturals, which equals 3 gel caps. Am I taking enough?

Hi, Lindy.

An adult can safely consume up to eight tablespoons per day of Udo's or flax oil. To give you a reference to go by, 1 Tbsp. of Udo's contains 6 grams of Omega-3 EFA's. To quote Jini:

Depending on your level of healthy (liver function, antioxidant capability, etc.) you'll be able to consume more or less of these oils. Take as much as you can to your particular tolerance level.


For ongoing maintenance, 1 Tbsp. is sufficient for most people.

So in the case of using fish oil, and the product that I use is safe, would taking the same amount as advised in flax oil (6 grams) be appropriate?

If not, what is a good rule of thumb for high dosing with fish oil?
