Olive leaf extract dosage

Postby sanjeev.k on Sat Sep 13, 2008 8:01 pm

Hi,
I am planning to take olive leaf extract as an anti microbial. In LTYG I am not able to find a proper protocol to be followed as is there for WOO. Although I saw something which says that it should be taken for 1 week high dose and then a maintenance dose. Will 1 week be sufficient time for all microbes be killed? WOO i think has to be continued for months . Also Jini says that when it comes to WOO it should be repeated every 3 months to kill the Candida. Is something like this to be done with OLE also? Has anyone else in this forum used it and got good results? It would be great to hear more about this.

Thanx
Sanjeev

Hi, Sanjeev.

If you read the experience related on page 142 of LTYG, it mentions a woman taking the Seagate brand OLE 3x/day for three and a half months to deal with an infection.

Based on this, it sounds like it could be used (in fact, may need to be used) similarly to wild oregano oil in Jini's Wild Oregano Protocol to deal with a chronic or rampant infection.

That being said, I have not personally used olive leaf extract at all. There have been a few people on the forum who've used it; hopefully, one of them will share their experience. (Or you can do a search on the forum for olive leaf extract.)

It sounds like Nature's Antibiotic: Olive Leaf Extract by Dr. Morton Walker, referenced in LTYG, would be a good source of information.

And I think darkangel's suggestion to contact the manufacturer for dosage recommendations is also a good one.

Another possibility is to consult with a naturopath who is fluent in the use of olive leaf extract.

Sorry not to give you a more definite answer, but I hope these suggestions will help you get started.

Take care,
Nicole

Thanks Nicole and Dark Angel.I got Seagate Olive Leaf Extract and they advise taking up to 9 capsules per day. I am planning to start with just 1 capsule 3X a day and gradually bump it up to 3 caps 3X a day.I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again for taking time out to reply to my question.

Hi,

I wanted to share with you the experience I had with Olive Leaf extract and also get some of my worries cleared. I started out with 1 capsule 3x a day and I was able to withstand it without any problems. So I increased the dose to 2 capsules 2x a day and started experiencing gas and bloating but it was still something I could manage. So yesterday I increased the dosage to 6 capsules a day, 2 3X a day. After about 2-3 hrs of taking my 3 rd dose in the night I started feeling really unwell.
I had fever, severe headache and body pain and chills.I had a hard time sleeping.I had a 101 F temperature and now it has reduced to 99 F( in about 12 hours). I also vomited once in the afternoon.
My headache and body pain is gone and I don't have any signs of fever though the thermometer reading still hovers around the 99 F mark. I am thinking this is the die off effect . However I am a little bit worried. I had a similar experience 2 months back when I got up with fever and stomach pain soon after increasing my probiotics dosage .However it turned out to be a case of a ruptured appendix and had to undergo an emergency surgery. Is there a way to determine this is actually a die-off effect and not something else? I have not taken any medication. Usually how long does it take for the die off symptoms to clear out? I would like to hear from anyone else who has experienced die-off effect and how long it took to start feeling normal again..I guess at this point I just want to be reassured that its just the pathogens being flushed out of my system and that its not the Olive leaf extract making my Crohn's worse.I am taking Natren's Healthy Trinity capsules twice a day(1 in the morning and 1 in the night ). I take this about 3-4 hrs after taking the olive leaf extract. Is there a possibility that the good bacteria in Healthy trinity also gets killed by the Olive leaf?

I have been taking the Seagate Olive Leaf extract at a dosage of 3 capsules 3 times per day for a total of 9 capsules per day. One hour after each dose, I take 3 Natren Healthy Trinity and 3 Natren Life Start 2. In the beginning, I had a severe die off effect. I had severe bloating and stabbing pains in my abdomen. This subsided after two days.
