Vuval Crohn's Disease???

Postby KellyH2004 on Sun Aug 10, 2008 4:54 am

I was wondering if anyone has or knows of someone having Vuval Crohn's Disease? Starting last Fall I started noticing swelling in my Labia area. I went to my OBGYN and they had no answer as to what was causing it. I was sent for a pelvic ultrasound and I also had a CAT Scan and bloodwork. Nothing showed up on either of the scans except that the Crohn's was active again where my small intestine meets the Large intestine. Bloodwork showed my inflammation level was up a little. My OBGYN told me to go see my GI about the swelling. My GI said she didn't think it was Crohn's related---this was without even doing any type of exam. So back to the OBGYN---and they still have no answers, so they put down labial majora edema as the diagnosis.

The swelling tends to be worse toward the end of the day or if I am am on my feet alot. It is not painful, just looks like edema. Slightly darker where the swelling is. I did stuble across some articles online about Vuval Crohn's Disease and had never really heard of this before.

I would love any comments, advice, etc. from anyone! I don't really know what to do next. I am planning on starting the Elemental Diet in a few weeks and am hoping that if the mysterious swelling is related to the Crohn's that it will go away once I get the Disease into remission.

Thanks,
Kelly
