need some good gum to chew

Postby getinthere on Wed Nov 07, 2007 7:26 am

Chewing gum while on the elemental diet has been a huge help to curve those food cravings and keep my mind sane while grocery shopping for my family or cooking dinner for them....soo here's the problem...I've been chewing Juicy Fruit gum...but had some side effects that were weird. my tongue actually got raw on the sides or it was chemically burned (I don't really know) from chewing gum...it was after a 2 and 1/2 hour car ride and I think I chewed 5 pieces during this time. I also had a few days where I chewed more than Jini's recommended 5 sticks a day...this was before I reread her instructions. I actually had increased bleeding and a general yucky feeling...I later linked this to the gum. Incidentally I also cannot tolerate the gummy vitamins that jini recommends...they make me bleed and cramp at night if I eat even a couple.
Anyway, my whole point here is I think they have changed the ingredients in the gum from back when Jini recommended that brand of gum. They now have dye in the gum and some other weird things that I looked up on food additive and preservative websites that aren't good for you...including the BHT preservative. So I'm totally bummed I don't have this gum to chew any more. Anybody know of a better source of natural chewing gum??

Hi Christy,

Yes, the gum has changed! We've already been through this topic, so please do a search on the forum and you'll come up with the thread with all the recommendations.
