Wild Oregano Question

Postby jomby on Fri Aug 24, 2007 11:22 pm

I am on the remission diet now for a week to get a really bad 1st time IBD flare up under control, and have been doing all 3 Natren probiotics twice a day on an empty stomach. I am now trying the "Joy of the mtns" Wild Oregano treatment orally and was wondering how many drops are needed a day to be effective. I have tried up to 10 drops and then Probiotics just before bed instead of twice a day.Is this a good routine? As well I have read that the Natren Children's formula contains the Infidus strain which is the most effective one for auto immune problems as it the most effective strain at knocking out bad flora and imbeds itself the deepest, does anyone know any more about this. I would like to try it, but I want to make sure it wont be counterproductive.

Hi, jomby.

Check out the article on the home page of www.jinipatelthompson.com called Jini's Wild Oregano Protocol. You can find dosage instructions there.

You might start out with 10 drops of Oregano Oil per day as moving into the protocol slowly should help prevent or at least minimize any die-off symptoms. (As pathogens die, they can make you feel ill - this is also known as a Herxheimer reaction.)

Do you already have Listen to Your Gut? If not, I really encourage you to get it as it's really encyclopedic in nature. There are about 30 pages on probiotics alone, including information on what to look for in a probiotic brand, how to get started taking probiotics (slow, moderate or fast), how long to take them, and lots more. I hesitated initially myself (I'd never paid $79.00 for a book before), but it was worth every penny and more.

It's unlikely that taking the Natren LifeStart will be counterproductive for you, but just go slow. Some people, with their systems in an already ill, sensitized state, tolerate one species initially better than the others and although eventually, you need the full spectrum of species to facilitate healing and rebalance the bacterial flora throughout the gut, if you go too fast you can set yourself back. You really do have to listen to your body and tailor what you do accordingly.

I hope this helps you.

WILD OREGANO REPLY

Postby jomby on Tue Aug 28, 2007 2:14 am

NICOLE,

Thank you for your response but it is still unclear to me.

I have the remission diet and listen to you gut, this is why I wrote you as it is not clear to me how to properly take this. The oregano is very potent and not matter if I take the liquid or capsules I burp it up all day, and I am afraid of taking more for fears of worse. It took a long time to get to 10 drops a day and Im not sure if I could take more which is why I was wondering if that does would be effective. I am living on Absorb Plus as that is all I can toerate now and it is very hard to buffer strong tastes like oregano which I am very fond of. Do you have any suggestions other than drinking lots of water with it?

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for all the great info.

Hi, jomby.

Okay, first lets address your question regarding "burping up" the taste of the oregano oil.

Check out the following discussion link, particularly the last post by Jini, as she answered this question for another reader. She gave her thoughts on various reasons why this might happen.

http://www.jinipatelthompson.com/bb2/vi ... .php?t=179

Assuming you don't have other things "repeat" on you, then make sure you're taking one of the brands that Jini has tested and recommends. Or, if you feel that the other suggestion applies, that this simply isn't a good substance for you at this time, you might try taking Olive Leaf Extract.

See the following discussion link for approximating Jini's Wild Oregano Oil Protocol with Olive Leaf Extract:

http://www.jinipatelthompson.com/bb2/vi ... php?t=1322

Jini recommends Seagate Olive Leaf Extract for readers who wish to try that substance. Neither Jini nor I have taken Olive Leaf Extract ourselves, beyond a few doses, so you might consult a naturopath for dosage recommendations on the Olive Leaf Extract itself. (The link above deals with probiotics & OLE.)

Finally, you didn't mention whether or not you're taking any meds, but just in case you are, it bears repeating. If you're taking 3 or more prescription medications, don't take Wild Oregano Oil or Olive Leaf Extract. It will be too hard on your liver.

The other thing you might try is just the probiotics alone - forget the antimicrobials for the time being - if you are able to tolerate them well. Since you have LTYG, you already know Jini's recommendations on probiotic dosage. Taking just probiotics will likely take longer than if you are able to tolerate an antimicrobial, but if that approach works better for your body, that's the way to go. It's always better to go slowly and keep your balance than it is to go too fast.

Above all, always keep yourself as your final authority in moving forward with your treatment. Other people can give you feedback on what works well most of the time, but you are the expert on you.

I hope I've answered your question, but don't hesitate to write back if you're still feeling confused or if new questions come to mind.

How long have you been unable to tolerate anything except the Absorb Plus?
