New with a couple of questions

Postby dawno on Tue Nov 14, 2006 10:38 pm

Hello,

I have an 8yo daughter who was diagnosed with IBD (severely inflamed, ulcerated colon--nothing visible in small intestine) this spring after several months of at times bloody diarrhea up to 16x/day, fatigue, weight loss etc. We did the prednisone and 6mp route with little relief and too many side effects. After weaning off the pred we also discontinued the 6mp about 2 months ago against medical advice. She got worse for a couple of weeks but has made significant improvements now working with the diets/supplements in Listen to Your Gut.

Could someone please clarify this for me? Is it okay to give her the mucosaheal and probiotics at the same time? We have had to go very gradually with the probiotics--(bifido every 4 days, then 3, 2, daily, added in megadophilus every other day, now daily) as she had very strong reactions to it at first. I wasn't too surprised since I had hunched from the beginning that this was related to her first and only experience with antibiotics the previous spring for strep. On the Natren bottles it says not to take them with herbs, but I'd like to give her both the mucosaheal and probiotics before bed. Any thoughts?

Also, is dry curd cottage cheese the same as Farmer's cheese? From an online search it appears to be but I wanted to make sure I'm buying the right stuff--she likes it and appears to tolerate it well (found organic, but not raw).

Thanks,

Dawn

probiotics and MucosaHeal

Postby Jini Admin on Mon Nov 20, 2006 11:32 pm

Hi Dawn,

No, you can't take MucosaHeal together with the probiotics.

If you can't take them at different times, then you could alternate - e.g. one night MucosaHeal, next night probiotics.

take care,
Jini
