Transitioning between the healing diets

Hi, everyone.

I thought of writing this post because I want to share a mistake that I've made in the past and hopefully save someone else the penalties of being too much of an eager beaver!

Basically, the mistake I'm talking about is transitioning abruptly from one Healing Diet to another. For instance, when switching from the Reduce Diarrhea diet to the Minimize Gas & Bloating one, it can be easy to say mentally, "Hurray! I can have cheese! I can have a little bit of citrus! I can try having raw milk! Lettuce! Spinach! A little pineapple!" And you can try them all. The problem is eating all these new things all in short order.

This is a mistake I made twice on my healing journey. Each time, within two or three weeks of making it, I had to backtrack to the earlier diet for awhile. I wasn't really listening to my gut; I was listening to my taste buds.

Maybe there are some people who can go abruptly from one diet to the other, but for most of us, I suspect that it's important to transition gradually. Trial-test the new foods individually, no more than one new food per day (even that is a bit fast for me), so that if something provokes a reaction you can pinpoint what it is pretty easily.

Currently, I'm somewhere between the Minimize Gas & Bloating diet and the Maintenance diet. There are some foods on the Minimize Gas & Bloating diet that I tolerate just fine, like broccoli and even a small amount of onions from time to time, and others that I'm just not ready for, like cooked dried beans.

Jini mentions several times, in a general sense, the importance of making gradual changes for the body, but earlier on in my healing journey, I managed to overlook that in my eagerness.
