Here's another way to get some great nutrients in when you're trying to gain weight or need a meal replacement. For those of you who are squeamish about the idea of drinking raw eggs (I know I was!), then start with this recipe here.
Once you've drunk this several times and feel okay about it, then start to add whole eggs instead of just yolks. So the first time, just add 1 whole egg and 2 egg yolks. Then, as you're amazed that you can't tell the difference, the next time you can add 2 whole eggs!
If you can get and tolerate raw milk, this is a very healthy recipe (I often have it for breakfast). Or, if you prefer, you can also use rice milk (or almond milk), but then you probably won't need the honey.
1 cup raw milk
3 raw egg yolks (save the whites for making merengues!)
1 tsp. honey or to taste (raw, unpasteurized - Manuka is best)
pinch of cinnamon
pinch of nutmeg
Whip all ingredients together in a blender - or directly in glass with a hand-held blender - on low speed for 10 seconds. Yum Yum!
For an Eastern flavor use nutmeg and cardamom instead of cinnamon.
You can also add a well-ripened banana - the blacker the better (the blacker it is, the more "predigested" it is).
p.s. you absolutely cannot tell there's eggs in here, it doesn't get any thicker in texture, there's no 'slimy' bits whatsoever. Tested on both my very picky 7 and 4 year old!
